DID MKO ABIOLA REALLY SUNK A SHIP LOADED WITH BIBLE?

  • Some call Chief M.K.O Abiola a philanthropist, a politician, a business tycoon, and so on. The late businessman cum politician was well-known due to his immensely successful career in business, and consequently, politics.
  • However, different quarters have told the younger generation that this man attempted to Islamize Nigeria.
  • To back up this argument, history has it that he sank a ship loaded with Bibles on its way to Nigeria.

Here are some details about Chief MKO Abiola’s work in Nigeria to promote religious harmony. He was proud of his education at a missionary school (Baptist Boys High School) and often quoted the Bible, the Quran, and proverbs in his speeches.

He made major financial contributions to the building of churches and mosques. He demanded and was given a Bible, a Quran, and sheets of paper to write on while in detention in Abuja. Chief Abiola demanded and received a Quran, Bible, and writing books, according to Major Hamza Al-Mustapha.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG , The following is an extract from Zadok’s Oputa Panel testimony (he explained how Abiola died).

“The Chief Security Officer, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, ordered me to give Chief MKO Abiola a Quran and a Bible to read, and I used to collect money from the Chief Security Officer to buy newspapers and magazines for the chief to read, as well as plain sheets for anything he may want to publish.”

So long as Abiola was not in charge, he would not have had the authority to sink ships.

Furthermore, because the products must have been shipped by a businessman (at a very high cost) in order to make profit. At the very least, we should know where the confirmed sunk ship debris is or hear the shipowners’ complaints!

People can note that from the early 1980s, Chief Abiola was active in partisan politics. In Nigeria, if you get interested in partisan politics, your enemies may spread rumors and false claims against you in order to undermine you.

Bribe Price Not Bride Price

If he can't pay the price, he better leave my daughter. This is a common statement on the lips of average parents (mid-class). When expecting the suitor for their cherished daughter to succumb to their abnormal demands for her price and the mammoth list. Understandably, this is not found or rarely found among families of better economical and financial status but very common among low or middle-class families. Ideally, a high class family will have no issues succumbing to the demands of an equally high class family for the price of their daughter. The question is why do the low or mid-class families make things hard for themselves?

Low and mid-class families see this aspect of a marriage as a big avenue to recover all they have expended on their daughter at once. They believe once they fail to this, the opportunity is gone. These families do this against the will and the happiness of their daughter because she won't want to lose the love of her heart at such a stage. It's even more worrisome when there's to be an inter-tribe marriage. I could recall when I got to Abia State, Obingwa Local Government for my National Youth Service, there was a shop where I normally make photocopies of my clearance form anytime we are to do our monthly clearance. Then on a particular day, I went to this shop to charge my phone, I decided to sit and while away some time when an elderly man came in. He informed the lady in the shop that he wanted to type and print some informations(although I didn't understand but he brought out an exercise book). The lady then started typing and you need to see these demands. I'm sure that is for a suitor of the same state and tribe and that will give you an idea of how the list and demands will look like if it were to be a different tribe. Nigeria, are we one?

After doing and committing so much for a lady to believe He loves her genuinely, man will still at the same time try to convince the in-laws about his financial status. Tipping them almost every time he goes to visit them with his wife-to-be even if it means to borrow to please them because he doesn't want to lose this beautiful and God-sent woman in his life. The better he gives to his in-laws, the more assured they are about his financial status. It's pathetic, man is a gender and not a financial status.

Eventually, the wedding was done and the marriage was held. Parents, friends and well wishers have done their part and it's left to the couple to start their life. The man in trying to be up to the demand of his in-laws had went to the extreme in providing their demands. He borrowed from friends, he took loan at where he works and even from Bank. Think of a case where the company he works with had the need to reduce their work force by stopping some staffs and unfortunately our newly wedded man happens to be among them. Now, tell me how will this new home survive this state, the man suffers emotionally, he needs to pay loans, return the borrowed money and provide for his wife.

Frustration starts creeping in and he starts to transfer aggression, for a man to have been in an healthy financial position and suddenly to struggling with his financial life, you will all agree with me it's a life-threatening situation. This demands lot of patience on the side of the woman, she's aware of her husband's plight and she would want to be the last problem he will be facing. Money realized as gifts from friends and families prior to the marriage has been used for settling debts and the limited one available have been used to stock the rented apartment with food for the mean time. A new home tries to survive instead of flourishing.

With things unyielding, the memories of how his in-laws had treated him plays in his head, he after fighting this defeat for a long time finally gives in. He starts to react to things he over look from his wife at home, he raises his voice. His wife becomes less important as each day passes, she's afraid to approach the love of her life because she knows it's either she gets shouted at or ignored. On the other hand, some women will stand up to their man and try to make their stand, there's nothing that provokes a broken man than this. Here, domestic violence begins which can lead to homicide as we have series of reported cases of this scenarios.

It's so rampant among young couples. The parents are were they are relaxed not knowing the type of hell their precious daughter has been going through. I'm laying much emphasis on the low and mid-class families because if the high class families can't help us, we should help ourselves. It's not a crime to marry from an equally mid-class family, parents should not see it as an avenue for money making. Marriage should be a thing of happiness not a business opportunity.

The bride price should be named considerately, the list should not be unbearable because anything other than this is a bribe.

Did you know you have a guardian angel assigned to you? Did you always think of the narrow escapes during accident, during fights and amidst dangers?

Well, if you are still doubting this, I'm about to erase your doubt...

A friend of mine told me a story of how he mysteriously escaped being killed by a car. On a fateful night, he was coming back from the football field where he normally plays every evening. He had left the house without informing his mum because he knew she wouldn't have granted him the permission and as a 15-year old boy, he wouldn't be able to convince his mum. Interestingly, the route that links the football field and my friend's house is an high way and as a result of this cars speeds recklessly.

Several times, accident do occur along the road. This forms part of why my friend's mum wouldn't want him to pass through the route in the night. As he was coming back from the field on that fateful night and passing by the axis of the road, the brake of a car failed and it headed towards the direction where my friend was passing by. People shouted because they believed nothing could survive the speed at which the car was coming with and they saw a boy. Surprisingly, nothing happened to my friend, he said  he just suffered a cut at his back. People in the scene were surprised and they talked about how a boy of his age could fly as high as he just did. Some even attributed his skills to having been watching action movies.

Tell me, is this real? Especially for the younger kids, their angel guards them with jealousy. Imagine how swift and fast the angel would have be to take out my friend out of the impending accident...

Did you believe this or not?

I humbly await your comment...

The Sword Bearer

Little Patricia had just lost her mum, just three months after losing her dad. She felt like the world was gradually melting away from her sight. The pain, feeling and reality of losing the two most dearest people in her life within a shot space of time was too much for her to bear. She would weep all night with no one to console her. Her biggest regret was that her mother had promised to enroll her in a secondary school but now that she has left the world, Patricia knows that the dream has become a nightmare. Patricia was not the only child of her parents, she had before her two sisters and two brothers but they have all left the village for greener pastures after their mother died. They of course tried to take Patricia along but the head of the family said they can't release to them Patricia because traditionally she should stay with them till she can be independent. They however had no choice than to leave her behind but promised to come back for her. Their father's family, Ordegha family, promised to take a very good care of her but opposite was the case as Patricia finds it hard to feed. Blessed with a unique beauty, Patricia would always have the advances of men, those that are age ranges and those old enough to be his father. Such was her beauty. Inspite all these proposals, she was very adamant that she doesn't need any man at this stage of her life and moreover she's still very young to be in a relationship. At age 22, Patricia started working as an attendant in a relaxation spot, there, she met a lady slightly older than she is. Anabel, tall, dark and beautiful introduced her into prostitution, Patricia was well trained and she imbibed these training, she would do anything to keep her virginity and she would only give it to the one she get married to. Anabel would try several times to change her mind but Patricia was so insistent.

So agile in carrying out her duties, Patricia was loved and cherished by her female boss at where she works. Male customers liked her and would enquired about her from her boss. Madam Choplife, Patricia's boss on the other hand knew the calibre of people that do come to her shop, she wouldn't want to risk the safety of her beloved servant. She would call Patricia almost all the time and advise her about the men that visits the her relaxation spot. These gestures from Madam Choplife would always surprise Patricia because of the series of men that her boss do go out with, "why can this kind of person be advising me against such things" she soliloquyed. It was a lonely night at home, Patricia couldn't go to work, she was very ill and there was none to beckon to, her newly found friend had stopped being her friend because she turned down being a prostitute. Everyone seems to hate her, she was her only family, her own friend and consoler. The rain was pouring heavily and Patricia was shaking profusely, she wrapped herself around her late mother's favorite wrapper which she also loved as the last child of the family. Suddenly, there was breeze from nowhere, Patricia's hair stood on her skin, she wasn't sure of what was happening but she felt some presence in the only room given to her by her father's family. She slept off and it was the next day, waking up, Patricia wasn't feeling ill anymore. She wondered what happened, all she could remember was the strange breeze. Quickly she got up from the Mat and headed towards the River to fetch Water.

On her way to the River, she saw an old woman carrying a log of wood. the woman hit her leg against a stump and fell, quickly Patricia ran towards her and helped her. The woman thanked her and gave her blessings. Patricia offered to carry the log of wood for the woman but the old woman told her she would be fine because she could see she's going to work and she's getting late already. Patricia wondered how the woman knew she was going to work but on a second thought she agreed within her that it's normal for her to know she's going to work. The old woman got up and left. Patricia got to the river, she dipped her pot into the water, the pot slipped from her hand. "My pot!" she exclaimed. She couldn't swim and there was none to help her, she turned in disappointment and started leaving for home, a sound popped behind her, she turned and saw her pot beside the river filled with water. Surprised and shocked, she moved near the pot, stood for some seconds because she wasn't sure of what could happen if she stretch forth her hands to the pot, " what if I disappear with the pot?" eventually, she summoned the courage to carry the pot. On her way, she was thinking about all what had happened in her life today, the woman, the pot. Getting home, she stormed into to her tattered bathroom and took her bath in a rush.

Getting to work the same day, the shop was burnt down, Sympathisers gathered there to console her boss on the loss of properties and goods. Her boss appreciated people's gesture but she was more happy because Patricia whom normally resumes early at shop couldn't come early on the fateful day. She looked at Patricia and hugged her passionately with love beaming in her eyes, it was pure love from boss to her maid. Patricia thanked her boss and prayed for her that God will recover for her all lost possessions. Still in shock about this eventful day, Patricia wondered what would have happened if she hadn't met the old woman on her way to river, if her Pot hasn't been taken away by the water. Ah! Ipemi Shineegba o( in her language, I thank God o).

The many sides of music!

Music is a generally spoken language which irrespective of the language can be enjoyed by various types, race of listeners. It can be enjoyed because of its beat, especially in the African continent where we like to party and dance. In some parts of the world, they appreciate the lyrics and some do value the melodies. While many judge a song with its meaningful lyrics, it's down to what we refer to as "meaningful". A song can be all about political issues and not get to a particular audience, another song can be all about love and not satisfying to a different audience. It's all about what we really want in a song. As we know that there are different types of music genre and some of these genres are particular to a lyrical content. RnB talks mostly about love, Afrobeats about groove, partying e.t.c. This is why Afrobeats is gaining so much recognition, why? Because this is a life of celebration and we all want to feel good, dance and groove.

Afrobeats is a very delicate genre because as simple as it is, it requires a lot of versatility and creativity with melodies enclosing it. Melody is a catchy lyrical content which shows the gut of the singer to think outside the usual, the box in satisfying the listeners. Singers like KSA, Fela Anikulapo, Wizkid has this in their contents. BurnaBoy thrives thrives well with life issues which satisfies his audience, Davido excells in commercial music and Olamide is an expert of street-inspired songs. They all do well in their field yet it's with the same mindset, what my audience want. Understanding this, we should know that there are many face to music and we should enjoy the face we want and not try to downgrade the other faces.
